The coat had grown to the point where a natural trim (minimal cutting, shape maintenance) was both needed and requested. Bath with breed-appropriate shampoo, high-velocity blow-dry to remove loose coat — the amount of undercoat removed was significant, natural trim (minimal cutting, shape maintenance) completed. Nails trimmed, ears cleaned, teeth brushed. In Miami's climate, Australian Shepherds at this interval develop significant undercoat buildup that causes heat retention. Time: 85 minutes.

This Australian Shepherd came in after 12 weeks without professional grooming, with a heavily matted undercoat that was trapping heat. Important: we do not shave double-coated breeds like Australian Shepherds — the double coat protects against both heat and cold, and shaving causes irreversible damage. Instead, we performed an intensive de-shedding treatment: specialized shampoo, deep conditioning, 40 minutes of high-velocity blow-out with a powerful force dryer, and thorough hand-brushing. The amount of loose undercoat removed filled a paper bag. The Australian Shepherd was visibly more comfortable after the session. De-shedding surcharge applied. Recommended de-shedding treatment every 6-8 weeks going forward.
