This Portuguese Water Dog came in at 6-8 weeks since the last appointment, ready for a complete service. The coat had grown to the point where a lion clip (traditional) was both needed and requested. Bath with breed-appropriate shampoo, high-velocity blow-dry to remove loose coat, lion clip (traditional) completed. Nails trimmed, ears cleaned, teeth brushed. In Miami's climate, Portuguese Water Dogs at this interval develop matting that becomes painful without professional attention. Time: 85 minutes.

This Portuguese Water Dog arrived with 12 weeks of coat growth and significant matting, particularly in the pressure-point areas. We assessed the mats and were able to work through most with a de-matting spray and careful combing, though one area behind the left ear required clipping out. The lion clip (traditional) was kept slightly shorter than usual to compensate for mat-affected areas. Owner was advised to begin daily brushing especially behind the ears and at the underarms. A de-matting surcharge was applied for the additional time required. The coat condition after completion was excellent.

Regular Portuguese Water Dog client on a every 5 weeks schedule. This dog arrived in excellent condition — proof of what consistent professional grooming and at-home brushing achieves. We performed a light refresh: bath, blow-dry, light scissor touchup to neaten the lion clip (traditional), nail trim, ear cleaning. Total time: 60 minutes — about 20-30 minutes less than a first-time or infrequent client. The time savings from consistent scheduling mean this appointment costs less and causes less stress for the dog. Next appointment scheduled.
