Shih Tzu coming in at 4.5 weeks from the Hialeah area — the dense double coat grows quickly and becomes uncomfortable in Miami heat. Owner requested puppy cut at 1 inch body length, face kept round with clear eyes. Critical safety note for Shih Tzus: the facial hair MUST be trimmed away from the eyes at every appointment to prevent corneal ulcers — this breed is especially prone to eye irritation from hair contact. The white facial area was cleaned of tear staining using a tear stain solution. Ear cleaning revealed mild debris — cleaned and dried thoroughly. The finished dog looks clean, comfortable, and the facial hair is clear of the eyes. Time: 70 minutes.

Shih Tzu with 11 weeks of growth and widespread matting through the body and ears. In Miami's summer humidity, Shih Tzu coats that are not brushed between appointments mat extremely rapidly — the dense undercoat holds moisture and tangles in weeks. The matting was too tight to de-mat without causing pain, so a full shave-down was necessary. Note: unlike double-coated breeds, Shih Tzus can be clipped short safely — the shave-down does not damage their coat type. The dog looked dramatically different after the shave: much more comfortable and cooler. Owner was advised to brush daily and return in 4 weeks.

Well-maintained Shih Tzu on a 4-week schedule. The coat was perfectly manageable — slight growth on the face and around the ears. We refreshed the puppy cut, kept face hair clear of eyes, cleaned tear staining, performed ear cleaning and teeth brushing. This dog comes in on schedule every time, and it shows — the coat is in excellent condition with no matting and minimal tear staining compared to irregular clients. Time: 50 minutes. The speed and ease of this appointment is the reward for consistent grooming.
